“Little Lost Souls” is a wonderful follow-up to the first book in the Lucy Kendall series and I enjoyed it a lot more. The story picks up a few months after the events of “The Girl in the Pink Shoes” and we see Lucy doing undercover work at a salon trying to trace leads on people who are behind a human trafficking network operating in that area.

Her journey takes her through the rough parts of the city, incites the enmity of a number of powerful people and ends up making her the suspect of a murder.

I liked this book more than the previous one. We get more insight into Lucy and all the damaged people around her and so, in spite of the many immoral and illegal things these people do, I couldn’t stop myself from rooting for them.

The author takes us into the psyche of Lucy. When she confronts and acknowledges who she is as a person has been portrayed wonderfully by Green and made me actually empathize with her in many places.

There is also a sneak twist at the end that sets up the next book, which I can’t wait to read.

I am beginning to like Green very much; she has a crisp and sharp storytelling style that pulls you into the mind of people who can be downright scary and weird at times. Her pacing of the story was on point — it progresses briskly and there are very few places where the pace flattens.

Overall, this is a must read for people who love to foray into twisted minds through a solidly written mystery-thriller.
