Time To Set Up The Finale | “Star Wars: The Bad Batch” Season 1: Episode 14 “War-Mantle” Review

With only three episodes left in Season 1, showrunner Dave Filoni had to raise the stakes this episode, and he sure did. Episode 14 “War Mantle” follows the Bad Batch (all voiced by Dee Bradley Baker) and Omega (Michelle Ang) as they get a distress call from Captain Rex (also voiced by Dee Bradley Baker), who urges them to save the clone commando Gregor (also voiced by Dee Bradley Baker), who is captured on the planet Daro, where the Empire is training stormtrooper conscripts. Gregor was an instructor who tried to flee the facility.

Long story short, they rescue Gregor, but are separated from Hunter, who is captured by the clone instructors and the stormtrooper trainees, which essentially raises the stakes for the next two episodes. We’re probably going to learn more of why Gregor left Daro next episode, and we also learn that the empire has canceled all contracts with Kamino, and are presumably going to kill them all except for their scientists, because the horrible use of cloning in shudders the sequel trilogy has to come from somewhere.

We also get a small cameo from Republic Commando favorite Scorch, which is either just a small Easter egg, or it implies that him and Delta squad might play a larger role next episode. Though I do think the conflict between Hunter and Crosshair will play center stage — they’ve been playing it up all season long, and I expect it to pay off.

“Star Wars: The Bad Batch” Season 1: Episode 14 “War-Mantle” gets a 7.5/10

Rating: 3.5 out of 5.
