Honest Reviews. Sharp Takes. All Things Entertainment

Joseph Kosinski’s “F1: The Movie,” starring Brad Pitt has been dominant in the Indian box office lately and has earned glowing reviews.

It piqued my interest and I saw it in Imax. It sped past my expectations. It’s a thrilling comeback story anyone can get into.

The film follows Sonny Hayes (Brad Pitt), who was a prodigy in the 1990s Formula 1 racing scene. That came crashing to a halt when he was thrown out of the sport following a horrific crash that left him with significant injuries. With nothing left, he became a journeyman racer.

Years later, he gets a second chance at glory when his former teammate and good friend Ruben Cervantes (Javier Bardem) asks him to be a spare driver for  APXGP, a struggling team he owns. It hasn’t won in over two years and is in danger of being sold by its board members if it doesn’t win at least one race. Sonny is Ruben’s Hail Mary pass and gets a chilly reception from his new team members.

The most antagonistic among them is rookie driver Joshua Pearce (Damson Idris), who is the team’s main driver. He resents Sonny and is understandably insecure about his future. However, their falling out divides the team, and it struggles to make progress on the track.

Will they turn it around? That’s for you to find out.

Pitt and Hans Zimmer, who scored the film, are its two major pillars. Pitt nails the role of a defeated has-been looking for his second wind, while Zimmer’s thumping background music brings palpable moments of tension to life.

Sonny’s love for the sport prevails and keeps him going, facing every setback with a combination of arrogance and will.

The movie’s thrills felt organic and gave me several adrenaline rushes. It’s no wonder racers risk their lives for this — their chase for glory is exhilarating.

All of this is highlighted by the film’s technical brilliance. Its camera work is innovative and fresh. The film’s use of car-mounted cameras create a truly immersive experience suited for Imax.

Kosinski created an unforgettable and exhilarating experience through exciting storytelling in interesting real-world locations.

This is the most fun I have had watching a movie in a long time and couldn’t recommend this movie more to everyone.
