Predictions: Who’s Safe And Who’s Not In “Star Wars: The Bad Batch” Season 3?  |  Column from the Editor

Season 3 is the final chapter to “Star Wars: The Bad Batch.” As with any Dave Filoni-created “Star Wars” show, it’s reasonable to expect that its close will cause many tears to be shed and possibly the departure of some beloved characters.

Here’s my predictions on who’s safe and who’s not this season. You can also watch a version of this article on TikTok below:

Safe

Omega

I think there’s a zero percent chance the showrunners kill off Omega. This is her show and this is her coming-of-age story. “Star Wars” is all about family and in these three seasons, we see her grow up.

Echo

Echo has been written off the show for a while now, and if Filoni and company wanted him dead, they would have done so long ago on “The Clone Wars.” The guy has already been Borged when he had droid parts surgically installed in him; he’s been through enough.

Slightly in danger

Emerie Karr

We still don’t know much about Emerie Karr, though she has warmed up to her sister, Omega, as of Episode 4. However, it wasn’t enough for her to defect. Still, I think the seeds of doubt have been planted in her and I wouldn’t be surprised if she ends up defecting by season’s end.

Crosshair

I think Crosshair is this series’ Prince Zuko in the regard that he is our redemption character. He’s made some mistakes in the past by choosing his superiors over his family in the Bad Batch, but he appears to have learned the error of his ways. He was also a bit more empathetic in his adventure with Omega in Episode 4, which makes me believe that he’s eventually going to be a wiser and kinder person.

The showrunners could have him nobly sacrifice himself, but I think that would be too similar to their treatment of Tech last season. I think Crosshair will most likely live a changed man.

Hunter

“Star Wars” has a terrible track record for father figures and mentors surviving so I have to give him a 75 percent chance of him making it past this season. Why so high? While killing off Hunter would be a very “Star Wars” thing to do, we’ve seen this story already — even in other animated shows in the franchise. Personally, I think sacrificing Hunter would be far too similar to Kanan Jarrus’ story in “Star Wars: Rebels.”

It’s a tossup

Nala Se

Nala Se has already disobeyed the Empire and has been threatened by Dr. Royce Hemlock in the latest episode of the series. But there’s also a reason why she wasn’t wiped out with the rest of Tipoca City: The Empire needs her. Still, I wouldn’t put it past her to nobly sacrifice herself if it becomes apparent she has no leverage over the Empire. Doing so would put Project Necromancer back decades, which would fit in with the “Star Wars” timeline (it just has to be ready by the events of “Return of the Jedi.”)

In danger

Dr. Royce Hemlock

Hemlock is a despicable, irredeemable character who only appears in this show. The moment he asked Emperor Palpatine for a promotion, I knew this man would not make it past this show. He serves as a replacement for earlier antagonist Vice Admiral Edmon Rampart, who also does not appear in any other “Star Wars” media.

Wrecker

If past Filoni “Star Wars” animated series tell us anything, it’s that they often end in tear-jerkers. “The Clone Wars” ended on beloved characters parting ways forever, whereas “Rebels” ended with a death of a major main character. I think “The Bad Batch” will end with the latter.

Why Wrecker? If this is Omega’s coming-of-age tale, there is no better way to embody that and the loss of innocence than Wrecker’s death, who is the most childlike character. His face also bears the most scars of any “Bad Batch” member, which is possible in-your-face foreshadowing.

He’s also the most reckless “Bad Batch” member, who is often bailed out by his brothers. The group has since splintered with the death of Tech, the desertion of Crosshair and Echo’s absence, greatly reducing his protection. Out of all the “Bad Batch” members, I also think Wrecker’s death would affect Omega the most and force her to grow up.
