This month, I posted every day on our TikTok @inreviewmovies. And the results are in: We’re achieved 130 percent growth in viewership.
This past year, InReview has been undergoing changes. I’ve focused more of my time leading this site producing content for TikTok — where our viewership has exploded — than text-based reviews and columns.
I’ve taken a sabbatical from written reviews since May and our writers have taken much-needed time to rest and recharge. We’re still committed to this site, but years of not taking a break caught up to us.
This site has always been a fun hobby for me, one I’ve found precious little time for on this (text-based) side of things. At the same time, I’ve produced viral content for our TikTok, including one video each day for the month of September.
Written content will always be part of who we are. But since I started the TikTok in 2022, we’ve been evolving. Video content quickly outpaced the reach of the articles on this site, and so it’s become a more important part of what we do and who we are.
That doesn’t mean we’re going to leave this site behind. We’re going to produce more content to accompany our videos as well as traditional text-only articles. But we’re going to experiment more in myriad media forms. We’re going to try new things and innovate.
Thank you for following this incredible journey. This website has been a seven-year labor of love and we’re nowhere near done.
We all needed some time to reset. But it’s time to dust ourselves off and show the world what we’ve got.
