Honest Reviews. Sharp Takes. All Things Entertainment

After Omega (Michelle Ang) and Crosshair’s (Dee Bradley Baker) thrilling escape in last week’s “Bad Batch” episodes, you might think that they’d want to lay low for a while.

You would be incorrect.

The pair open the episode emerging from hyperspace after escaping Mount Tantiss. Despite the fact that Dr. Hemlock (Jimmi Simpson) called off the fighters that were attacking them, their ship was still critically damaged, leading to a crash landing on the planet of Lau. Without a ship, they survey the local settlement, which is heavily controlled by imperials.

They quickly steal clothes from locals to blend in and find someone willing to sell them a ticket on a shuttle off the record, for an increased price. Without money, Omega is forced to gamble at a local bar, where she becomes a little too successful, drawing the attention of the imperial ruler of the town.

She ends up beating him, but he captures their hound, Batcher, who helped them escape from Tantiss. Crosshair wants to cut their losses, but Omega won’t abandon her animal friend, eventually convincing Crosshair to help her in the rescue.

This is a pretty decent episode, complete with a cathartic cumeuppance of the imperial ruler. This episode does set up an interesting reunion with Hunter and Wrecker (Baker), who are glad to see Omega back, but it intentionally cuts to black before we can see what their reaction to Crosshair’s return will be.

For me, that last scene is the most interesting of the episode. Will Crosshair rejoin the crew after thoroughly burning that bridge? Will Hunter and Wrecker even want him back after everything he’s done?

My prediction is that Crosshair will either give a heartfelt apology, having learned the hard way that the Empire doesn’t care about him, or will decide to go own his own. I also think that Hunter and Wrecker will be reluctant to have him back, but will eventually accept him.

Star Wars is about family, after all. I think after the loss of Tech last season, this season Crosshair’s relationship with his family will be on the mend.
