“My Sister’s Secret” revolves around the lives of four sisters Tess, Sarah, Alexis and Bobbi. Their family had gone through something terrible when they were children and since that event, each one of the sisters has struggled in their own way to come out of it and make a life for their own. Though they have gone on different routes to lead a life of fulfillment, all of them have the shared tragedy to which they connect to, enabling them to have an unfailing sense of family loyalty.
The story unfolds in the point of view of one of the sisters and we don’t know who it is till about halfway through the story, which forces the reader to wonder who it is throughout. That style of storytelling was a novelty for me and it got me hooked into the story to a great extent. I also liked the way the story explored the different characters, their lifestyle and the way they handle the various developments happening around them.
In a way, this is a story which explores trauma and the way it affects every member of a family in its unique manner. However, the story was a bit of a slow burner and that’s not something that really appeals to me. I still liked the climax (I definitely didn’t see that coming) and loved to meander through these unique, damaged, strong, independent thinking women.
The story will appeal to people who like to read slow burners that travel to dark places occasionally.
This book gets 4 out of 5 stars.
