Honest Reviews. Sharp Takes. All Things Entertainment

Two episodes into “Loki” Season 2, I have a few theories on where the show will go. Will I be right or wrong? We’ll find out in a few weeks.

Loki and Mobius will seek out Victor Timely

A Kang variant who time traveled to the past, Victor Timely’s presence was spoiled in the end credits of “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.” It’s rare for the mainstream films to tease the Disney Plus shows, so — like last season — I expect this season of “Loki” to have great significance for this phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

My guess is that Loki and Mobius will seek Victor out in hopes that he will be able to unlock the blast doors Ouroboros revealed last episode that will only cooperate with his signature. We’ll also meet Ravonna Renslayer, who has been spoiled via promotional images and is currently missing and will try to foil them.

I think that there’s a good chance that Victor is an earlier version of He Who Remains, and instead of helping them, he will create the Time Variance Authority — essentially making Ouroboros’ name a flashing red warning sign that the TVA is a paradox that creates itself.

The TVA will be toast

In Season 2: Episode 1, Loki time travels to the future in which he sees the TVA in shambles, about to collapse, where he finds Sylvie. I think this future will happen despite our heroes’ best efforts.

The TVA currently is trying to change, but it has no purpose other than trying to stamp out multiverse threats, the prime of which are Kang variants. The issue is, the TVA is about to be hopelessly outgunned if even a few were to appear — they’re divided and probably couldn’t handle a rogue Loki and Sylvie if that were to happen.

One of the things that makes this show so interesting is its moral dilemma. The show admits that its pruning of multiverse branches isn’t humane or right, but it is the most effective way to prevent Kang variants from causing harm (they don’t have the chance to even exist). Its “sacred timeline” also cannot exist unless the TVA at some point fails, giving He Who Remains a reason to make it in the first place.

Mobius will get his jet ski

In promotional material for this season, we see Loki at a jet ski dealership. After having Mobius long set up his desire to use one, the show would be remiss not to pay this off.

What do you think will happen this season?

It’s hard to predict what Disney’s plans are overall for this show; it’s very possible that they plan to wrap it up this season, given CEO Bob Iger’s comments on how these shows have “diluted” the Marvel brand. Still, “Loki” is one of their best hits and I think it has the potential to draw enough viewership for a Season 3. I think it’ll be mostly up to where Disney’s prioritizes are: Does it want to continue to invest resources into its Disney Plus offerings, or does it want to strengthen its cinematic films?
