With Sabine Wren (Natasha Liu Bordizzo) reuniting with Jedi Ezra Bridger (Eman Esfandi) while mercenaries Baylan Skoll (Ray Stevenson) and Shin Hati (Ivanna Sakhno) are in pursuit, Grand Admiral Thrawn’s (Lars Mikkelsen) plan to eliminate them both almost sees fruition.
This episode, we see a rematch between Baylan and Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson), who catches up to everyone on Peridia, as well as a sort-of rematch between Shin and Sabine, who is helped by Ezra. Ezra has spent years on Peridia without a lightsaber and has adapted his fighting style to be completely force-based, which would be cool if it was actually effective. Sabine and Ezra prove to be no match for Shin and a legion of stormtroopers and end up having to be saved by Ahsoka, who bails on Baylan.
Speaking of Baylan, he parts ways with Shin, as it appears that there is something he wants on Peridia that he believes can break the cycle of Republic and Empire that the galaxy has been in for centuries. Shin only wants power, which Thrawn’s risen Empire could give her.
There are some nice moments this episode, but not a lot happens — something Thrawn openly admits. Even though his minions repeatedly failed to destroy our protagonists, Thrawn’s main objective is to get off of Peridia, which he needs time to do (he needs to load personnel and supplies onto his ship). In this greater picture, Thrawn won as he made Ahsoka and company waste the most important thing they have — time.
With that being said, the episode falls flat when compared to the last two before it. While there are some great nuggets here, they don’t add up to a memorable whole.
