Honest Reviews. Sharp Takes. All Things Entertainment

I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

“The Gentlemen Authors” is Sophie Barnes’ new series featuring Dukes who decide to compensate for their loss of fortune by penning romance stories. The first book “A Duke’s Guide to Romance” features the Duke of Westfield, Anthony, and the niece of a shopkeeper named Ada.

The book starts off with a wonderful meet-cute between the both of them and sees them being drawn towards each other immensely. Anthony, finding himself unable to resist her charms, keeps meeting with her and thus their relationship develops more, particularly when Ada helps Anthony and his friends with the conception and writing of their story.

However, Anthony’s finances are in a dire strait and would benefit greatly from a marriage of convenience. Ada also knows that nothing could come out of her growing closeness with him and tries her best not to get her hopes up. What plans does fate have for them? Is their situation hopeless or will they be able to overcome the challenges in their way to happiness?

This is a wonderful story by Barnes. I found the premise of the story very refreshing. There is a small issue with the believability of Duke’s story, but its charm makes up for it.

I particularly adored both the lead characters and loved the organic way their relationship develops. I can’t wait for the stories of the other two Dukes; the author has already given snippets of information for us to know who matches up with whom.
