Scarlet Drew is back with her badass attitude and ruthless ways in this next installment of the Scarlet Drew series. In the previous book, she had vowed revenge against her cousin Ruby, owing to her role in Scarlet having to separate from the man she loved and almost getting arrested by the police for a previous murder.
In “Her Fight,” both Scarlet and Ruby are engaged in a cat and mouse game, with each of them wanting to put an end to the other. On top of that, the Drew family is under a terrible strain because of certain truths that were revealed earlier in the previous books and two outside factions are trying to make a move against the family and the police are shadowing them relentlessly, putting a crimp in their underground businesses.
So, it falls upon Lily and Scarlet to do their best in not allowing the family to fall apart and also to keep the business running. Through the course of the book, we get to see whether or not they manage to do that and what they do to make that happen. The book started on a high octave and the pace never slowed down throughout.
In fact, I loved this book more than the previous one and felt I could actually connect with the characters more, in spite of them belonging to a completely different way of life. All of them have been given excellent depth and so many different dimensions that I found myself rooting for them even in their criminal activities. I had thought this series would end with this book but was pleasantly surprised to know that the author plans to continue it.
I absolutely cannot wait to read the next one and can’t recommend it more to other readers. Definitely check this out if you want to read action thrillers set in a gangster backdrop.
This book gets 5 out of 5 stars.
