Wednesday was my birthday, so I unfortunately fell behind on these reviews. However, I recently caught Episode 4, and it was classic Filoni Star Wars.

In this episode, the Bad Batch (all voiced by Dee Bradley Baker) land on the planet  Idaflor so that Tech can modify the ship’s signature because it now appears on the Empire’s wanted list. However, they are sold out by a landing bay attendant, who informs bounty hunter Fennec Shand (Ming-Na Wen), who has been hired to retrieve Omega (Michelle Ang) from the group. 

Meanwhile, the group needs to find enough credits for the ship modifications and repairs, and the group initially strikes out by trying to sell an explosive, but they get the credits they need when Hunter manages to sell Echo, who is disguised as a droid, to the flight attendant that ratted them out. Echo is soon found out by his group of droids, but he manages to gain their compliance in helping him fix the ship. 

Shand eventually shows up, comforting a lost Omega, until Hunter and company find them, leading to a fantastic fight and chase scene between Shand and the Bad Batch. It’s as classic Filoni Star Wars as you can get — in which he takes an iconic character, finds a natural place for them in his story, and the scenes with them in it circulate around social media, exposing more people to the show. 

Another solid episode, which isn’t surprising, as Dave Filoni knows exactly what he’s doing.
